Medieval India, spanning roughly from the 6th to the 16th centuries CE, witnessed significant transformations in the Indian subcontinent, including the rise and fall of various empires, the development of distinct regional cultures, and the introduction of new religious and artistic influences. It is broadly divided into early and late medieval periods, with the early period (6th to 13th centuries) characterized by the rise of regional kingdoms and the late medieval period (13th to 16th centuries) marked by the establishment and expansion of the Delhi Sultanate and the Vijayanagara Empire.
